Career Pathways That Work
More paths from education to strong careers in the Bay Area
We Connect Education and Employment
High schoolers need paths to strong careers. Employers need job-ready talent. We connect them.
Ridgeline is a Bay Area nonprofit that builds and runs pathways to in-demand, high-wage careers across schools and communities, with a focus on young people ages 16-22 from low-income backgrounds. From career exploration to job placement, Ridgeline is creating more paths to strong careers and coordinating a regional system to make it all possible.

Career Exploration and paid work-based learning

Industry-recognized credentials

professional skills and social capital networks

placement into high-wage, high-demand careers
A Bay Area where young people have multiple routes to high-wage careers
We bring together K-12, higher education, and employers to build multiple routes to strong careers. Instead of a single education-first, employment-later path, young people can combine learning, working, and earning as they move toward their goals.
We design pathways backward from employer demand, then run the programming so young people can build the skills, credentials, experience, and connections to move forward.
A new kind of regional intermediary
We understand what employers need, and we know how to design rigorous experiences that work for for teens and young adults. We build AND run pathways to strong careers across schools in the Bay Area, with a focus on young people from low-income backgrounds.
Education first, employment later isn’t working
There are Structural and Rigor Challenges
- 52% of low-income college grads are underemployed
- 31% of students have a negative financial return from higher education
- 700,000+ shortage of certificates and associate's degrees aligned with high-paying careers, annually through 2032
Young people need more paths that combine education, credentials, and paid work experience.
Career exposure isn't enough
There are Structural and Rigor Challenges
Career fairs, job shadows, and employer visits can help young people see what’s possible, but they aren’t career pathways on their own.
Strong pathways build from exploration into paid work-based learning, industry-recognized credentials, internships and clinical experiences, and ultimately employment or a high-ROI next step.
A regional model for a national challenge
Solutions From a New Kind of Intermediary
Ridgeline offers a regional answer for this national challenge. We’re building a model in the Bay Area that connects opportunities across schools and communities to the needs of the regional economy.
With multiple routes to high-paying, in-demand careers, students can enter at different points and combine education, credentials, and work-based learning to access strong careers across the Bay Area – regardless of which school they attend and whether or not they wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree.
The intermediary role is essential
Solutions From a New Kind of Intermediary
Labor markets are regional. Career preparation is still largely school by school. Employers can't build relationships with every school, and individual schools can't build pathways across an entire regional labor market.
This work requires a dedicated intermediary.
Ridgeline solves the coordination challenge, connecting education and industry, recruiting across school districts, and developing relationships that make it easy for employers, educators, and funders to work together.
Designed with students and employers. Powered by partners.
The path is clearer when the trail is built together
Ridgeline does the work that individual schools, districts, and employers can’t do on their own. We build relationships and add capacity for companies, colleges, and schools to build the career pathways young people and the Bay Area need.

We Partner with Employers
to design talent pipelines aligned to regional workforce needs so companies can shape how emerging talent is prepared and meet students earlier in their development.

We Work with Training Partners
including colleges and universities to expand dual enrollment and credentials with clear labor market value so students graduate with qualifications that employers value.

We Partner with High Schools
to connect career exploration to paid, real-world experience so students gain work experience alongside industry professionals and build their professional skills and networks as they move from high school to high-paying jobs.
